Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico - How You Can Help!

E-update on the Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Hello:
The environmental implications of the BP oil rig disaster in the Gulf of Mexico have many people concerned about the survival of marine wildlife in that region. This spill is also an economic disaster for it will impact local communities that rely on the Gulf for many activities including fisheries and tourism.

NECWA supports the efforts of all the organizations and individual citizens who are taking steps to mitigate the effects of the oil on the local marine populations. NECWA strongly urges its members and friends to contribute in whatever way they can to the clean up efforts before the oil endangers and destroys many of the indigenous plants, animals and marine microorganisms that make up the complex food web in that region.

To that end, we are including in today's e-update links to websites that rate environmental organizations invested in this effort. We urge you to contribute what you can to the organization or organizations of your choice. NECWA does not endorse any of these organizations specifically but supplies the information and urges you to make your own decision.

And please continue to phone or write your Congressman or Congresswoman as well as President Obama and his administration. From a political perspective, a phone call or individual letter bears more weight than a signature on a petition.
